Line - Column on 2 axis problem

I have set up a line-column on 2 axis chart. There are 8 sets of data points.

Initially it puts 4 sets of data against each axis (i.e. 4 columns and 4 lines). I need 2 columns and then 6 lines on the chart. I have set up the 2 sets of data against the primary axis and 6 sets of data points against the secondary axis. This is fine as it does plot all points against the respective axis (scale).

My problem is that it still shows 4 columns and 4 lines instead of 2 and 6 respectively. In the attached example the Elective and Non-Elective should be lines and not columns.

Hope this makes sense! Does anybody know how I can change it? I have been playing with this for days.

    Thanks in advance.

You just need to select those series and change chart type to line.

Quickest way to create the chart scratch would be to ignore the built-in custom and create the combination chart your self.

Select the data and create a line chart on all 8 series.
Change the Elective series to Secondary axis. Use Arrow key to move through chart elements and when select a series for the secondary axis press F4. Repeat for other 4 series.
Finally change chart type of two Total series to Column.

    Andy,

Thanks for this. I did not even think to try that. I just presumed it meant for the whole chart.
