    Starting a schedule/timeline

First thing I like to say is, I'm a newbie to all of this charting information. I'm trying to create a schedule of events. Each date (for example 6/10/10) will place a dot on the same row, and then (6/25/10) will place a second dot and there will a connecting line between them.

There's a start and end date on the left of the graph. And all the charting lines will be on the right. I tried creating a chart but it ends up looking like a chart with percentages that you would find at a business meeting on how the company is doing.

Is there a way that I can create this without using a chart, and just using the cells?

I want it to look like this .pdf sample I have. I created the basic structure of how I want it to look like without dates, in the .xls file.

Thank you very much for your time!

That's a gantt chart style. And you will find more information by search the forum and checking these links

You can create the look in cells by using formula and Conditional formatting.
In order to get the start and finish points at dates within months you would need to use additional columns.
