field calculation in a 3 dimensional pivot table

Maybe someone can help me with this one.

I would like to create a pivot table in which i would like to compare spendings against a preseted plan for various categories and the subsegments of each category.

To do this I intended to add a manual field calculation which subtracts the actual spendings against the plan. Now when I inserted the calculation my pivot table reflects all subsegments for each category. Is there a way to avoid this artificial blow up?

Re: field calculation in a 3 dimensional pivot table

    Hi,
I'm having a similar challenge: trying to create a pivot table from a number of sheets, all with the same layout. When I do this for two dimensions (e.g. project and activity) it works fine, but when I try to add a third dimension, team member, the values won't add up, all it shows are zero's (see attachment).

Basically, what I'm trying to do is make a report of the hours spent by my teammembers on activities within projects. They register their hours in a sheet with columns "Date", "Project". "Task" and "Hours".

    Am desperately looking for help!

    Cheers,
    Rick
