    xy (scatter) graph

There are 14 columns of data.
This xy graph has 7 series.
Each series has two columns of data.

The xy graph _should_ have 2 series, consisting of 7 columns of data each.

    How do you do this?

    re: xy (scatter) graph

    You mean one series?

If so, collect (via rearrangement or formulas) all the x values into one column and all the y value into another, and create the series.

    Oh yes.. one series.

"all the x values into one column and all the y value into another"
How do you do this exactly? When I highlight the column, it automatically adds into seperate series.

    re: xy (scatter) graph

To claify, I mean after clicking on the chart and clicking "select data," then when I highlight "the column, it automatically adds into seperate series." That's how I got 7 series from those 14 columns.

I don't know how to post a workbook.

    "via rearrangement or formulas"
By rearrangement, you mean to actually move the columns?
The formula would be better, though which do I use?

Click the button with the paper clip, or scroll down to the Manage Attachments button.

I don't see any paper clip on quick reply, and when I click on post reply, it makes me log in again and again and again. Don't know why.

Can you answer the previous reply questions?

The answers to your questions depend on how your worksheet is laid out. To attach a file (preferribly save it as an xls file 2003 compatable), use the "Post Reply" which is directly below this post to the left and then scroll down to see "Manage Attachments" button. Click on that and follow the instructions.

In order to post a file, you need to reply through the "Go Advanced" button. There you will find the paper clip.

    re: xy (scatter) graph

i thought it was already clear that "use the "Post Reply"" does not work. that is why i use quick reply.

"depend on how your worksheet is laid out" - why can't example be shown? like "if it was laid out in such and such way, then.." "and if it's not, then..."

i guess the basic layout is a1-a50, c1-c50, e1-c50 are the same series, and b1-b50, d1-d50, f1-f50 are the other series.

so since there was no reply to the above mentioned previous questions, here they are:

    "via rearrangement or formulas"
By rearrangement, you mean to actually move the columns?
The formula would be better, though which do I use?

So in any event, now you know the basic layout.

To claify, the graph should have TWO series, NOT one. The comment "You mean one series?" must have confused be previously.

The first post of this thread says TWO series.

If you can't sort out how to post a workbook, people are going to be hard-pressed to figure out how to help.

    re: xy (scatter) graph

    i rewrote the first post:

    Currently,
There are 14 columns of data.
The xy graph i have has 7 series.
Each series includes two columns of data.

The xy graph _should_ have 2 series, each consisting of 7 columns of data each. It should not have 7 series.

How I got 7 series from those 14 columns: after clicking on the chart and clicking "select data," then when I highlight the column, it automatically adds into seperate series.

How do I get 2 series, each consisting of 7 columns of data each?

Exactly how do i get all the x values into one column and all the y value into another?

To claify, the graph should have TWO series.
