Creating an intensity chart

Hi

Is there a way to create an intensity chart in excel?
I have data which includes hundreds intensity values. I would like to plot them so X-axis is the intensity value and Y-axis is the amount of those values. A histogram will do fine, but if there is a way to draw a curve it that would be great.

I'm using mac, but I have possibility to use PC if necessary.

Well, I'm not familiar with pivot tables. I tried to make one, but I had no idea what I supposed to do..

Is there a simple way to categorize the intensities which are continuous, to small classes and them make a histogram where classes are on teh X-axis and frequency(%) on the Y-axis?

Well.. I didn't manage by myself. I don't succeed to create a similar pivot table that Andy made. I tried to follow the creating protocol from ExcelTips, but I just don't get it.

This is how far I've made it:

1. I select my data
2. I'll go to Data->Pivot table report
3. I create a pivot table
4. My pivot table is empty. When I drag my data to the data column, there appears only one number. I'm confused.

Step by step protocol would be nice
