    Help with Excel Chart Please

    Hi.

I've created a line chart, data is diplayed at each value. X axis will run Jan-Dec and y will be 1-5. The chart will show three different data series, i.e Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3. What I want to do is be able to click each legend key so the other two data series disappear and only the line showing that particular data remains. Can you help?

Yes. We can help. But please help us to identify your problem better. Read the forum rules and make your title more descriptive of your issue. "select different data series to chart" maybe?

once you've done that, check out

    http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/ChartByControl.html

to find out how the user can select which data series to display in a chart.

Hi. Thanks, not sure what you mean by, 'make your title more descriptive'. I thought I'd gave a good description of what the problem is.

Re: Help with Excel Chart Please

As outlined by teylyn please alter your thread title.

For an acceptable title think along the lines of what you would enter into a Search Engine were you trying to find specific info. related to your issue at hand.
I don't think you glean much info relevant to your specific problem were you to Google "Help with Excel Chart" ... perhaps "Dynamic Data Series" or somesuch ?
(though I suspect you'd probably get a lot of hits !)

Please don't post the same question twice. you can change the title of your original post instead. If you're unsure how to do this, read the forum rules. There's actually quite useful info to be gleaned.

    also (again!), check out

it really contains all you need to create a solution for your issue.

Re: Select Single Series to Chart

Hi. The Peltier document was very useful, thanks, but not exactly what I was looking for. What I'm looking to do is have multiple data series in my line chart but when presenting be able to click each legend key so all other data disappears other than the one I'm talking to. I think I may have to select the legend key, then type something in the formula bar, select the data and then enter. Can't seem to get this right though.

Re: Select Single Series to Chart

Move the chart and have a look at the formula's in the cells under the chart.
Those are basic "if" formula's, so shouldn't be a problem.

Hi. Think I may have finally sussed it. Thanks. I thought I knew the formulas but I can't say I'm entirely sure how they blank the pther data oyut and only show either Data 1, 2 or 3. I'll revisit and try to get my head round it. Anyway, I have it working so thanks all for your help.
