Scroll bar appears inactive or locked

I have created a chart with a Scroll bar to change the values, howerver the scroll bar control appears to be "Locked".

If I select it and go to Right-click --> Sscrollbar Object --> Edit, it will then allow me to move it and the chart moves accordingly. However as soon as I click off the chart or bar it then goes back to "Locked" and if I try clicking or dragging, it moves the whole copntrol, not just the slider bit.

    Any ideas?

I have gone through the properties however cannot identify which one will allow a user to drag the bar, or click on the arrows to move it?

    Hi Grimace,

I'm using a newer version of Excel but let me explain how I can use the scroll bar and have your numbers and the speedo change. I click on the Developer Tab and then on the Design Icon. When both of these are clicked then I can right click on the scroll bar. The dropdown gives me a Scorllbar option to Edit it. I click on this and then scorlling works and the values on the sheet change and the speedo moves.

I wish I could tell you how this is done using 2003. I hope this is enough to allow you to know you sheet works. Getting to the place where right clicking on the scrollbar seems to be the tricky part.

I found it ..... i guess clicking on anything until it works can help sometimes!!!

I still had the control box in design mode, so once I took that off it worked no problem. I didnt even know there was a button to turn it on / off .... hmmmm

Thanks for your help MarvinP ..
