    Horizontal line on a chart

I have an Excel 2003 line chart, and I'd like to add a horizontal line across the chart at the value shown in cell C5. I realize I can manually draw the horizontal line, or I can enter that same value in all cells in a new column in the data sheet and plot that as a second series. But isn't there a way to say to Excel, "Draw a horizontal line in the chart at the value corresponding to the value in the cell at C5?"

This is the 'standard approach'. Sorry it's not clever enough for you

You would think that, wouldn't you? Can you hear Bill Gates laughing?

Re: Horizontal line on a chart

    Hi,

I know I'm a few years late to answer this post but to draw a vertical line, you just have to do this Vertical_Line_Example.png where {0\0} is your constant value and {0.000001\10} is the range of values (the length of your line). Horizontal line is the same method except you interchange the constant with the range.

Example: if you want to draw an horizontal line at y = 1 for x = 0 to 10, you just have to put "={0\10}" (without the quotation marks) into the X values box and "={1\1}" (again without the quotation marks) into the Y values box.
