    Adding curve values

    Good afternoon

I am trying to do something that should be simple but with no luck. I have 2 or more curves that I want to add the y-values for and create a summary curve.

I have attached a picture of a sample of what I am trying to do. In the attachment, the yellow curve is the summary curve. Here, I manually generated it but I want it to be an automatically generated one.

Note that the two curves being added have different start and end points and all points may shift. Therefore, a simple vertical addition will not work.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'automatically'; add another series with a formula that sums corresponding values of the other two (which is what it appears you've done).

    Re: Adding curve values

That's exactly my point. I had to manually add up the points and plot the yellow curve by creating a 3rd series with these manually calculated points. I want to create another series that's live with the data of the two curves.

In other words, a third series that when the data of the two curves changes, it updates as well.

    Re: Adding curve values

I guess looking at it another way, If I had two curves like in the new attachment, how would I create the third sum series?

    Thanks again

    Re: Adding curve values

That's very different than your first example, because the x values are different for the two series.

You would to extract all the x values of each series in ascending order, then sum the interpolations of each function. It would be easiest in VBA. Do you use VBA?

Hey Thanks for the responce. Now you see my problem. I thought for sure Excel would be able to handle something like this. To answer your question, no I don't use VBA. I guess I may be stuck on this one.
