    data labels in bar charts

    I am using bar charts.

I have made two data series for the same thing just to change color for negative and positve bars. I used if(a1>0,a1,"") for positive numbers and if(a1<0,a1,""). and then put the bars at 100% overlap. It worked fine.

    BUT !!

When i insert the data labels. it shows 2 data labels for every same, one is 0% and one with the actual coming from the series. I tried to work it out but can't and want your help.

What i want is that, it should show only labels for the numbers coming from the series and not the zeros arising from "" or NA().

    Please help me.

    Hello,

This will be easier to solve if you post a sample file that illustrates what you want to achieve.

You may need to construct a range of cells that hold the labels you want to show, and then use the free XY Chart Labeller tool (which works for all kinds of charts, not just XY charts). Download here: http://www.appspro.com/Utilities/ChartLabeler.htm

If you need help getting this to work, please pipe up.

    cheers,

You need to try the "Invert if Negative" formatting, which saves you the trouble of making a positive and negative series for a single set of data.

It works a little funny in Excel 2007, so you could read Invert if Negative in Excel 2007.
