Scatter Plot not plotting straight line for same data in x & y

I am producing a scatter plot wher a user can input a choice of up to around 200 variables in the x and y axis, however for some of the variables if you select them for both the x and y the scatter plot does not produce a staight line as it should.

Has anybody come across this before and is there a solution.

Column B has null strings in the cells that appear to be blank. Null strings are text, and text causes the data to be interpreted as categories ({1,2,3,...}) instead of numbers.

Select col B, Data > Text to columns, Finish.
