    Chart formatting Excel 2007

Hi - I assume this is really simple but I just cannot work out how it's done.

I have a list of 10 names (Participants) on "Y"
    I have 10 Activities on "X"

The activities will have a grade next to the name of the participant of either 1 (Excellent), 2 (Average) or 3 (At Risk).

I want a simple pie chart to show the percentages or ratings 1, 2 or 3. So the pie chart will only show 3 segments hopefully mostly of 3.

Sorry if this is really simple but I have no background at all in excel. Thanks in advance.

Thanks NickiC - This is perfect however I need to perhaps throw a spanner in the works. I've attached the amended example. You'll see there is an additional column to the right of each main task where a simple H or L is placed. This obviously messes with the formula used to create the pie chart.

Is there a simple way to remove these columns from the formula?

    Thank you for your help!

As long as the column includes letters not numbers it should not affect the result - the formulas will only count cells containing values 1,2, and 3. Or, did you want your chart to include an indication of effort as well as grade? In that case, if you want a pie chart, it should have 6 slices not 3 (eg excellent skills, low effort)

I would really like a separate graph so instead of having H & L, I replaced it with 5 & 5 and changed the formula to reflect that. It now shows as a separate pie. Not ideal but simple enough once i'd worked out how you'd calculated it.

    Thanks again!
