Control charts

Hello,

I have searched this forum and done a bunch of google searches but cannot find how to set control limits on a chart. I have all the data and have already set UCL and LCL but I cannot find out how to get them translated onto a chart with all the other data. I am using pivot charts for this spreadsheet if that makes a difference in the final outcome.

These charts are very simplistic as well as I am only looking at one set of data on each chart.

The easiest way is to add a new data series to the graph and label it UCL and LCL. My chart's x-axis was from 1-32 and my UCL was 40. The cell above 40 I set equal to 40 as well. Directly next to the two 40's I typed 1 and 32. On the chart I then hit select data, add series, highlight the 1 and 32 and then highlighted the 40 and 40. It now shows up as a line on the chart spanning across the x-axis at the value of 40. To get rid of the large dots on both ends just click one of them, format data series, marker options, none.

Hi dilipandey, Thanks for the response. What I was hoping for is some way to insert the control limits in a pivot chart which I have in sheet 3. I would like to just click on a single value which I had already established in sheet 1 (UCL) and have that create a control limit line in the charts. Is that possible?

I played around with my charts some more today based on the chart that dilipandey had sent and was able to figure out what I needed to do to get my limits in. Thanks for your help, Kevin
