Plot two sets of number ranges

Hello!

I'm a bit at a loss as to how to plot two different sets of number ranges. For example, if I'm plotting the price range of a stock over a particular decade, the data might look like this:

Set one: Years -> 1981-1990, 1991-2000, 2001-2010
Set two: Price -> $10-$15, $17-23, $29-35

I can't figure out which chart allows me to show these two sets of data in relation to each other. Is there a way to make this work?

Maybe this was a harder question than I thought - I expected some Excel guru to pop right in with a "Well, that's easy!"

So I tried using Excel's "Simulate a Gantt chart" concept, since both sets of data are about "duration" in a sense.

At first it seemed like it would work, but somehow the durations don't work the way they should. I suppose I could manipulate the data until it at least LOOKS right on the chart, but it would probably be less work just to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Unless anyone has a better idea?

Hi,

Attached is a simple gantt chart with the data you provided.
It is a stacked bar chart with two data series. Series 1 represents the
gap between $0 and the starting point of each category. I made the series
transparent/no fill as I just want this one to function as a gap.
Series 2 shows the actual price range of each category.

Is that what you want?
