    Chart elements altered in 2010

We just upgraded this morning from 2003 to 2010 (well, my group did; my users, for the most part, will be on 2003 for the next 6 months). I was anticipating macro problems, but I'm doing okay on my macros. However, I'm having problems with a chart (charting is one of my weakest areas in Excel; I'm pretty much clueless here). I put the chart together over a year ago, with a lot of help from this forum, and have macros that update it on a daily basis. The macros appear to work just fine in 2010, but the chart is a goner.

The attached file has two parts, a Word doc showing the view for a 2003 user vs the view for a 2010 user, and the 2003-formatted workbook containing the chart. In the workbook, I can see that one problem is that the Y-axis has changed, but I'm not sure why it changed. I can fix it by putting in a fixed 0 for the minimum, and 1.0 for maximum, but I'm very unsure that if I do that it will continue to show correctly for my 2003-users.

The second problem I don't know how to fix at all. That's the blue line across the middle of the 2003 view. That shows where we are in the fiscal year (percent of FY passed). If I fix the Y-Axis, my blue line disappears. If I make any kind of change in the blue line, it moves over to the right.

Again, charts are very hard for me, so any help (the more explanatory the better) is IMMENSELY appreciated!

    Thanks,
    John

Re: Chart elements altered in 2010

Update: The chart still renders correctly for my 2003 users. The fix mentioned above makes the chart render 90% correctly for 2010 viewers, and still leaves the 2003 view rendering correctly. My problem is my blue bar; applying the fix makes it disappear for 2010 viewers. The blue bar is influenced by the cell in G2 of the "LkUps" sheet. If I delete the "*100", the blue bar appears in 2010, but disappears in 2003. I'd sure appreciate some help on this.

    Thanks,
    John

Re: Chart elements altered in 2010

This is where my ignorance in charting really rears it's ugly head....

You say "1. Show the secondary Y axis."
Does this mean: do a right click on the Y-Axis and select "Format Axis"?

Doing that, and making the changes you mention in your post, gives me the attached result. So, I think I'm doing something wrong because:
Setting Max to 100 means 100% on my chart shows as 10,000%
Setting it to show no line, or labels, means nothing shows.
I tried renaming the named ranges as you suggested. Once I was all done I got an "invalid formula" error, not sure if that's related to the named ranges. See the attached to see how badly I mucked it up.

Yeah, I caught my spelling error right after I posted my last post.

OEG0, you're a genius (or at least compared to me). I KNEW there had to be a way to do it, and forgot that the blue was a secondary access instead of a simple error bar, so never thought to look for that solution. Thank you for seeing what I couldn't, and providing great directions! I think my problems are solved (well, at least THIS one is. I still need to work on that spelling thing, don't I?)

    Thanks, and God bless you,
    John
