Data Validation and Charting

I have Revenue and expenses data for years 2000 to 2010.

1. how do I create a line chart so that when i use data validation, selecting either revenue or expenses, the Chart changes.

2. how do I create a cell, where if i enter 2009, it will only show me a chart that goes up to 2009.

Hi DILIPandey,

I have uploaded the file.

What I am hoping to achieve is

if i select Rabbits, and April, the chart will show rabbit data up to April only.

What would be even better, is I could select between Feb and April.

I managed to do this by "cheating", lots of if functions, but I really believe there is a better way.

Looking forward to your insight.

additionally and MORE IMPORTANTLY, what if there are 10 animals? i used a simple if function to select the two, but its silly to do that if there are lots of animals.

Hi slxia1,

I have used the dynamic names for animals which will accommodate the increase / decrease in the names.. also I have used the names in the chart which will show up the respective animal's data through selected month only, see the attachment and check it. To understand the names .. press Alt + I + N +D. thanks.
