Help! - Plotting numerical and non-numerical data on excel

    Hello All,

I have a report to deliver and I am really struggling with making excel work for my data sets. I really need help!!!()

I need to plot and correlate four sets of data - two of which are numerical and the other two are non-numerical. The outcome of one of the numerical data point correlates to the other, while the non-numerical data points are just descriptive of the numerical points.

For instance, if I have a data set like these :

    Mole data: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

    Percent degradation: 10, 15, 25, 50, 20

From Container: Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Green

From Site: North West, South East, South West, North East and North Central

Can anyone kindly assist and guide me through how to achieve that in Excel 2007? I need help as fast as I can get it.

    Thanks!

    Hi
Welcome to the forum. I'm no statistician but I've attached an example chart. Is this the kind of thing you're looking for?

    Hope this helps

    Dear DBY,

Many thanks for your prompt response.

The chart you sent is quite useful except that the values aren't continuous. That is, they are not meant to be linked as a line graph. I'd loved to have them as have stand alone points (as they look in X-Y Scatter).

Do you have other ideas as per what I can do?

    Hi
Glad it was of some use. You can change the chart type to XY Scatter graph. Scatter graphs generally only have two series of numerical data to compare and no categories. So you'll have to compare the Mole Data to the & Degradation. See the new attached file.
