Pivot Chart Date Axis, need dates seperated proportionally not equally

    Hi all,

I have attached an example spreadsheet showing what I am trying to achieve.

    Pivot_Dates.xlsx

On the x-axis of the graph I need the dates to be separated proportionally not equally. So a time separation of 12months will appear further apart on the graph than a 6month separation. Forgive me if that isn't clear, it's not easy describing spreadsheets in words! I believe the attached example is quite clear though.

    Thank you

    Pete

    Hi Pete,

I believe that axis is just a display of the pivot table .. what ever you have in table, will display in chart..

Hi, thank you for the reply.

The chart is showing all the correct information but it's not plotting the points in the correct places. A 6month gap should plot the results further apart than a 3 month gap, which it does in the 'normal' chart but not in the pivot chart.

    Hi Peter,

This is happening with pivot chart only ... may be because the 6 /3 month far date is appearing as next available field.

Pivot chart does not display true date axis. If you want the same dates as a normal chart you will need to include dummy data points in your source data.

Thank you both. Sadly I feared this was the case. Very annoying!

    I don't suppose it's possible in Excel 2010?

No. And I took a suggestion from another thread (right click on the x-axis dropdown, then choose "Field Settings", then "Number" to try to format the horizontal axis as a date axis, and my copy of Excel 2010 crashes. Repeatedly.)
