I have a design question. I have created several color bar charts. Most of them have five categories (i.e. colors) in each bar. They look great on the screen and when printed to a color printer but the many of the colors are indistinquishable on a monochrome printer. I have been asked to make the charts look readable when printed from a monochrome printer. I've tried using the pattern fill feature but it looks like all the categories have to be the same color if I go this route and everything I have tried just looks plain ugly. I'm not sure if I am asthetically challenged or if it is really this hard to create a chart that meets my needs. Does anyone has any advice? If the pattern fill is the way I should go could you suggest what patterns work best together? It seems like it should be simple but I'm finding it anything but.
