Date Filter: Cannot Group that selection

Created pivot table including date field. Quadruple checked source for any "false dates" or blanks. Any other reason this is not letting me group? I have a date filter in the source data and it let's me filter by year/month/date. Why not the Pivot Table?

Hi

Go into pivot table tools>options>actions>clear>clear all first, then add your date information.

are you certain you did not include any blank rows in the data source for the pivot table?

I changed the order of the fields where the date column was before another criteria. It worked. I don't understand why to this date because I just changed it to the original order I had and it worked. Beats me.
