Question about a chart with two lines

    Hi,
I've plotted a chart with two lines.
For one line I've data till December, and for the second only till October.
How can I present this chart while one line goes till Dec. and the other stops in Oct. Right now Excel is stopping both lines in Oct.
    Thanks

    Hi

Have you tried adding the Dec data first view the chart then add the Oct its possible you have them the other way round. Charts are meant to be dynamic so it may not make any difference.

Just asking the obvious, but have you double-checked to see that your reference for the December data series actually includes all of the data cells up to that month?
Which series did you create first? If it was October, when you selected your cells for the X-axis (horizontal) labels, did you extend the reference to include through December? If not adjust, the reference to include all the cells.

Re: Question about a chart with two lines

    Thank you both,
Chris - it works with an exception...
My data for line 1 have tiny terms (0.05, 0.03 etc.) while for line 2 they are in huge terms (7,000 etc).
So, as long as I put both lines on the same chart without any adjustment Chris' tip works and I notice x-axis stretces till Dec.
BUT - when I adjust one of the lines, by making two y-axis in order to make the chart reasonable, then x-axis shrinks back to Oct.
    A mysterious?

    Hi

The one that is thousands see if reducing it to smaller numbers ie divide by 1000 and show in the legend that it reflects thousands and not just 7.

Re: Question about a chart with two lines

    Doesn't work ...
BTW here are the datasets - zero's in A column represent Jan-11 and Feb-11, while zero's in B column (in the end) represent Nov-11 and Dec-11.
Trying to plot a chart in which axis-x starts in Jan-11 and ends in Dec-12, while when data are missing (the 4 zero's ...) the line is just starts only when there are data - i.e. in Mar-11 for A, and ends in Oct-12 for B...

    A B
    0 8,421
    0 8,548
    6.9% 9,265
    6.6% 6,230
    6.9% 8,026
    6.0% 7,671
    5.1% 8,041
    4.2% 5,977
    4.2% 5,469
    4.8% 4,402
    4.9% 6,980
    5.1% 7,424
    5.6% 7,429
    5.8% 7,417
    5.8% 7,644
    5.3% 6,324
    5.7% 9,420
    5.5% 8,798
    5.5% 10,187
    5.8% 10,065
    6.1% 6,676

Re: Question about a chart with two lines

    Chris - many many thanks!

Axis-x is perfect now, it's something I didn't know how to do before..

If there is also a way to force the chart to ignore zero's and to stop/begin the line without taking into account zero's it would be great.

Re: Question about a chart with two lines

    Hi

Apart from the posts above you had your "small numbers" as numbers I changed that to percentage. Have a look through the file so you can see what changes I have made. If it is what you want dont forget to mark your thread as solved.
