Help with data for chart

I am trying to create a comparison chart of the items in column A. I want to be able to take the data show their frequency. For instance, Young's Market Company. I don't understand how to do this with words instead of numbers. I want to be able to show how, for instance, Young's Market Company appears 'x' amount of times, Southern Wine and Spirits appears 'y' amount of times, (unspecified) appears 'z' amount of times ect.

To clarify more, I work for a wine and spirits distributor and we pulled this data from an iPad wine list. We are trying to determine our market share, as in, what percentage of the wines in the restaurant belong to which distributor. Sorry if my excel lingo isn't very good, I'm pretty new to all this. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
