Pivot Table loses formatting when refreshing data

    Hello and thanks for looking:

I have a pivot table created in Excel 2003 that pulls from an Access database. When the table was created, there were no gridlines, something that the executives wanted. I am able to add the gridlines, but as soon as the data refreshes I lose them. I have seen and tried some different macros that people have posted but not had any luck. Anyone on here have any ideas?

    Greatly appreciated

that's an issue with 2003. you have to record a macro that sets the borders you want and then call it from the worksheet_pivottableupdate event

if at first you don't succeed try doing it the way your wife told you to

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry, I'm not experienced with macros yet. How do I find the worksheet_pivottableupdate event? Searching online...

right-click the worksheet tab, choose 'view code' and then in the code window that appears choose 'worksheet' from the left dropdown at the top and then pivottableupdate from the right dropdown. that will create the procedure outline for you and from there you need to call your formatting code
