Hello Excel Forum
I am trying to find the relationship between two variables that have completely different scales.
I have included below a graph of the two variables plotted over time.
dual axes plots.jpg
I want to be able to calculate the periods of time when wind outputs exceed national load outputs (wind > national), however the different scales are prohibitive. If you look at the graph above, at X-value 217, the wind output begins to exceed the national load. This point in time indicates a surplus of wind energy, and at that exact moment (X-value 217), it would be perfect to simply read off the graph on the left hand side where this high wind value meets the second axis for national load, i.e. at around the 28000 mark. This would allow you to work out the total energy over time produced when wind outputs exceed national loads. I need to know the amount of surplus energy produced, (displayed by those periods of time when wind values appear to exceed national loads at least on the graph).
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to sort this one out, please let me know.
Thanks guys
