Cool excel counting multiple values as different series in scatterplot

    Hi Everyone,
I have multiple values for one independent variable and excel thinks that I have many series.

For simplicity's sake I will simplify my problem to an example- if you had several oranges and you wanted to know whether the size of the orange influences the size of the seeds inside that orange.

Diameter of orange, Seed 1, seed 2, seed 3, seed 4
    5 __________________2______2______3_____4
    10_________________ 2______4______8_____5
    15__________________3_____10______5____11

For this example I am creating a scatterplot of seed size against diameter and excel thinks that seed 1 across all samples is in one series and seed 2 is in the second series, but really the seeds are all one series. In actuality my example is much more complicated in that I have 14 values per diameter. The only way I know of to handle this right now is by reorganizing the data such that I would have the following:

    Diameter of orange seed
    5___________________2
    5___________________2
    5___________________3
    5___________________4
    10__________________2
    10__________________4
    10__________________8
    10__________________5
    15__________________3
    15__________________10
    15__________________5
    15__________________11

I cannot do this for my data though because I have over 100 diameters and 14 seeds per orange.
    Thank you for any help!!!

    Hi Superfritz,

I get the same result from your first data set vs the 2nd data set if you simply push the Switch Row/Column button on the Design Ribbon.

You can learn more about this option here:

Why Does Excel Switch Rows/Columns in My Chart?

Hopefully this helps. Let me know. Thanks
