One chart--two times series (monthly and yearly)

I have four times series data sets: (1) three are yearly 1985 to 2009 and (2) and one is monthly Jan 1985 to Dec 2009. I want to put these two series on the same chart. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    Hi esstim,

    welcome to the forum.
I believe you can use secondary axis here.. just to give it a try, can you upload a sample data. Thanks.

Re: One chart--two times series (monthly and yearly)

Thank you for the suggestion. I've tried that but still do not get the desired results--maybe I'm doing it incorrectly.

Attached is the Excel workbook I'm working with. There you will find the data loaded into a chart. I now want the monthly data (Jan 1985 - Dec 2009)loaded into the chart, using the bar chart option for this variable only--it will display the recessionary months.

    Any suggestions?

    Yes! Thank you very much!

If you have time, please pass along the steps for adding the recession variable as you did.

    you are welcome esstim,

From Axis option (ribbon bar), you need to create another x - axis (horizontal) and then transfer day's data here.
