    multivariable graph

    i want to create a graph of 3 variables i.e i have 3 data sets...u,y,x......and i need to create a graph of u(x,y).......how can i do that?

    There are several different ways to show 3D data. The first part of a question like this is less about Excel and more of a generic math question. What kind of graph do you want (3D scatter, contour plot, or other)?? What format are the data in? What is my graph trying to show? Who is my audience?

    FWIW, I find that, for the kind of data I have, and the kinds of relationships I want to show, I find a contour plot tends to be the most useful. In a contour plot, one plots several different u vs x series at different values for y. In Excel, I find this is easiest to acheive by organizing the data into a table like this (comma delimited):

    Then the contour plot can be generated by selecting this data table, and creating an XY scatter plot from it.
