Need height and width of plot area to equal height and width of chart area

I want to show proportions of a 2-level (e.g. yes/no) variable within respective cells of a worksheet - kind of like spark lines, except with 100%-stacked bar charts to show proportions. When I create the charts, they look fine. I have reduced the plot area gaps to 0%, and set the height/width aspects of the chart area and of the plot area to identical measures. When I reduce the charts to fit into the cells, however, the chart area border takes precedence over the plot area. I have looked for a setting that limits the percent of the chart area that the plot can fill so I can toggle it off (or set to 0), or a setting that mandates aspect ratios, or something else and can find nothing to fix this problem. See attached spreadsheet for a visualization.

    Thanks.

    Hi WBJohnston,

    Welcome to the forums.

I have a slightly alternate solution for you.

Check out my solution for your needs. It involves using the REPT function to create an InCell Chart. I think it solves your problem.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for this. Do I really "need" the red part? It depends on how strongly I want to tell my story. We've been invited to present data to the city's police showing them how many cyclists ride in the streets, as opposed to on the sidewalk - and police perception of this is a local concern. I would like to make the visual as strong as possible. I would rather have them gasp at the visual than have us trying to assert the fact with our voices. Ultimately, there will be about 50 or 60 rows that we can print and showing how little red there is, compared to the green, will make a difference.

I took your solution, which I appreciate, and made the cell background red. Then I squeezed the row height from 12.5 down to 10 but the red margins still show. I wonder if there's a way to use two REPTs entered into respective cells and then concatenate them with the appropriate normalization and font. I'll do some experimenting. You have certainly advanced my thinking and given me options. Thanks!
