Pivot countif? Product? looking for some instructions

Hello All,

looking for some guidance on this one.

I use pivot tables frequently to review client trading activity. I'm having difficulty with creating a pivot that uses the count function 2x's

For example, ideal pivot header will be:
Acct # / Count / Count
Acct # / Count (used for # of transactions) / Count (ideally used for count if "X")

I'm trying to use the first count for # of times the client appears in my list, and the 2nd count column for the # of times the client appears in my list if the cell value is "X"

I have been trying to learn more regarding the pivot "Product" function but havent gotten anywhere w it. I presume it permits the function (product of x) but dont know how to enter a formula??

Is there any better way for me to get my data?

Hello mroto, if we are looking at value field setting summarize value by field then i am afraid countif option is not available but if we are looking at calculated field or item then we would need to see the Pivot Table.

Thanks for replying to my inquiry,

I was trying to see if pivot tables permit me the ability to filter my results via advanced filtering or utilizing the "Product" function?

My original data the pivot was created from has a formula that will result in "yes" or "no" if the client meets certain criteria. My intent is to use Column "W" as a tool to count the number of times they appear in my list, and I am trying to filter column "X" to display the number of times the column meets "Yes" as a criteria.

Do you know if this functionality is available in excel pivot?

Hi Michael,

Pivot does'nt have that feature but you can drag "count of yes/no" in row field and this will show you the count of yes / no
