Advanced PivotTables??? - Multiple Data Filters in Rows...

    Experts,

I will try and explain this problem I have with pivot tables but it really is a case of looking at the sample file.

I have a set of data which is essentially in row form and I want to put parts of it into a pivot table. However I'm missing the crucial link on how to 'group' and 'filter' certain bits of data.

Essentially I have a single address and have assigned to it three bits of data, current / planned / forecast. Looking at this data I can't manage to get the pivot table to display the counts of the number of pieces of data in the 'header' row of the column as a filter for the 'row' part of the pivot table... I also want to 'group' the horizontal rows of data by a date.

confused? I am. The sample file has the following:

Data - Tab with the data in the format that I currently have it - see below later
Template - empty template describing the types of data I want in the pivot table and 'where'
Sample - 'filled' in template showing which data I want where
Data will work - data that I have rearranged which WILL provide what I need but there is a risk with duplication of data as this 'method' relies on multiple instances of the same address but with different 'statuses'.

I hope that this is an easy problem to solve as I think I've had it a few times but can't quite get the ends to meet.

I'm happy to try and explain myself further.

    Thanks in advance.
    Warren

So you want the end result to look like the "data will work" spreadsheet. A pivot table won't do that it only perform a function like sum, avg, count etc..

Do you want to convert your columns to rows?

    More clarification will help.

    Hi,

What I basically have is that data in the format in the tab "data" and I want a pivot table that looks like the tab "sample".

What I've noted is that in the "data will work" tab, I can pivot table that data to look like the pivot table in "sample", BUT I can't get the data in the "data" tab to look like the "sample" table.

    Is that clearer?

    Thanks for your help.
