Excel sets the ThreeD atttribute on Series

I have a large dashboard application (23 SQL queries, 34 charts on 4 tabs, extensive conditional formatting....) Despite all this Excel 2010 handles it well (except for the crashes).
One chart displays costs by project code (11) and date. The visual appearance is flat, 'low ink', but Excel likes the 3D approach. So much that on (just) two of the series, it resets ThreeD.visible to true (on open I suspect). I have to include the following VBA to clear it:

The count3D is to monitor it happening (a different worksheet is set in workbook_open so it's easy to miss.
Here's an image; check out the vacation and On Call series.
Or rather I've failed again to upload! I'll post as is and research images again.

Anyway, has anyone else seen this behaviour, or better found a way to stop it?

I checked the FAQ, then the User Control Panel but neither I nor Firefox Find on this page can see the link to Albums and Pictures. Still failed to find how.

Re: Excel sets the ThreeD atttribute on Series

As the rest of the development is done, I decided to check when it occurs while I had some time. It happened during open as I expected. Then I refreshed the queries and it happened again - sort of. The code (above) reported that ThreeD.visible = msoTrue but the visual image was not 3D!. I'm used to Excel 2010's eccentricities but this one is strange.

    Regular embedded chart, stacked columns.

    [Love your by-line, so true]
It was 3D - the whole thing was at one time. And often when I insert a chart it defaults to 3D presumably form prvious work.

The help says Office Professional Plus 2010, version 14.0.6023.1000 - doesn't look like SP1, but I cannot upgrade in this controlled environment.

Re: Excel sets the ThreeD atttribute on Series

I'd suggest setting the type for the whole chart to a non-3D type explicitly and then adjust any individual series as required. I think that's sp1 level by the way

Re: Excel sets the ThreeD atttribute on Series

OK, I set the chart to stacked lines, which I think has no 3D. Then (as I'm lazy) I set the whole thing back to stacked columns. As I didn't lose colour settings, I doubt that was enough. So if it continues, I'll change each series to stacked columns and bite the colours bullet.
    Thanks for your help.
