Pivot table for organizing cost as a % of total per month

example.xlsHello. I've attached a spreadsheet. I would like to do a pivottable (I know it's possible, just don't know how to set it up) that sorts claim created date by month and then for each month shows what percentage that month is of the overall total. How would I set this up? I might also like to include all of the info from the other columns, sorted in whichever way the months are sorted but no totals or anything. Thanks.

to get it the way you want, you have to add column that shows only the month so you can add it to your pivot table as a column. insert a column to the left (or where ever) of the Claim Created Date, then use the formula =month(D) where D is the Claim Created Date column this will give you 10 for october, 12 for december etc. then copy and paste values on the column to overwrite the =month formula with the values shown. then add it to your pivot table.

add the columns Month and Net Paid Amount to the Pivot, then add Net Paid Amount again. click on the Sum of Net Paid Amount2 in the values section of the pivottable field list and select value field settings. go to the show values as tab in the value field settings window, select % of Column Total in the drop down, click ok.

format your table as tabular, show subtotals at the bottom then you can format your subtotals so it's easier to see them stand out

see my example and let me know if this answered your question
