    Pie charts in excel 2010

    Good morning,
    Need major help please.

I am trying to create a pie chart in EXCEL 2010

I have a total number of 4143.... (lets say of hamburgers)
Then i have a listing of the number of hamburgers with cheese, # of hamburgers with tomotoes, # of ham. w lettuce, etc...

Now i can create a pie chart with the percentages of burgers with each item - but how do i include them off the 4143 total?

    e.g.
    My chart shows
    Hamburgers w cheese - 93%
    Tomatoes - 2 %

But i want the percentage to run off the total 4143....

    How do i do this?

Thank you and i apologize for the mass confusion if there is any

ok. Cick on the chart (assuming you have a chart made) and go to the Chart Tools > Design tab.

The "Chart Tools" tabs show up with you select the chart. Select the proper "Chart Layout" from the design tab.

    THere are multiple % options...

If you search the web you'll find that pie charts have a lot of drawbacks

Excel, from my understanding in general, has a lot of drawbacks...

Regardless - I am still determined to learn how to do this properly. I have gotten so much out of this forum...it is AMAZING.

can you upload an example please? select the "go advanced" (next to the post quick reply option) and then look for the "manage attachments" button.

That will give you a way to "Select Files" and then Upload the file.

    See attachment.

You will need to add a column - your percentage is not based on the sum of values in the chart. The new column will calculate the percentages for you.

Also, pie chart is a bad idea with this much data and slices so small... maybe try a bar chart? Examples of both attached.
