Hi-

I'm using a Pivot table that runs an OLAP Query to refresh the data. Since I updated to Excel 2013, when I go to refresh that sheet, it automatically starts refreshing every sheet or workbook I have open, even if it doesn't contain a Pivot table. The problem with this is that I can't use Excel at all during a refresh because the data source is huge and takes a long time to refresh. While a refresh is happening it freezes Excel until it completes.

On Excel 2010 I could open multiple instances of Excel and run a query in one instance and work in the other. However, in 2013 it freezes all of the windows and the refresh takes MUCH longer because it's refreshing the Pivots in EVERY sheet or workbook. I tried closing all other workbooks, but this didn't help much since the main workbook I am using has 4 or 5 sheets that contain PivotTables connecting to this database. This means I have to wait for all of them to refresh instead of just the one I want.

Is there any way to make it so it doesn't refresh them all? In 2010 you could select Refresh or Refresh All, but in 2013, it doesn't matter what you select. Anyone have any idea how to fix this or at least a good work-around aside from separating my worksheets into separate workbooks and only opening one at a time?

Thanks!
