Is it possible to do a trucking schedule pivot table?

So what I would like to know is if it is possible to create a pivot table that can give me the information of a trucking schedule spanning over a year and break down into months, weeks, and days. The attached file shows the basic fields I have setup. I have used this making a profit loss sheet before but that was numbers not sure if that would work with words please any help is appreciated even if its a funny joke.

Re: Is it possible to do a trucking schedule pivot table?

Kind of what I was looking for but was hoping to be able to choose the truck number and have it automatically bring up all the information after the database is created. i.e. I click the truck ID tab and go to the truck number and it pulls up all the info already and I use the date drop down to filter exact days/weeks/months/ or year I want. Is that possible? However I must say I am impressed with what you came up with not sure if it will work for what I need though. If you look at the attached file its similiar to what I want to display but with words instead of the numbers in the value areas

it wont work the same way you have done your other pivot tables because text/words is that dont have any "value" as such can be not combined in that manner

the problem as i am sure you have come across in your example you can not group months/year along with week which is why i added extra column of data for weeknum and year

with the example i posted you can filter by truck id and date to give the data you require?
there is just not "adding" done so the size of the pivot table always changes which is why you need to have it at the bottom rather than top...even better if you just have it on another sheet

All right I will play with it for awhile and see if I can make it work the way that you have it done if not I may require abit more help cause as the time progresses the data sheet will need to expand so would you suggest inserting rows above the table?

sure play around with it...that's what pivots are there for to chuck around data

i suggest keeping the pivot table on a separate sheet altogether
having it above the data means the size of the chart may change and that MAY incur/overwrite the data itself

but if you must have it above then yes insert many rows

Re: Is it possible to do a trucking schedule pivot table?

Sorry one more question so the week number would coincide with the number as January 1st- january 8th would be the 1st week and then 8th-15th being week 2 so on and so forth? As well this is what I ended up with how did you get the table to look more together without the totals and all that sorry this is only the 2nd table im making lol so learning how this works

Re: Is it possible to do a trucking schedule pivot table?

yeah just need to right click and un check subtotal

weeknum works on what day you set as 1st day of week
so for instance in 2013 if you set week starting monday then 6th is week 1 but if you set sunday then it is week 2

    not a problem
    thanks for the rep
