how to stop Expand Entire Field when Refresh pivot table

When I do a Refresh of my pivot table, Excel also does Expand Entire Field, showing more detail than I want to start with. Can I prevent this somehow?
Excel 2010.

Under PivotTable Options, Layout & Format tab, uncheck Autofit column widths on update

Thanks for the suggestion.
I can't get the problem to reproduce now (it doesn't always happen).
So I don't know if it works for me yet.
