Show only the possible values in the pivot chart filter

    Hi All,

I have a pivot chart with 3-4 filters. If i select a value in Filter 1, Filter 2 should show only the possible values of Filter 1 and so on for Filter 3 and 4.

    Filter 1 Filter 2
    A 1
    A 2
    A 3
    B 5
    B 6
    B 7

If i select "A" in Filter 1, Filter 2 should show only "1,2,3". But currently it is showing all the values in filter 2

    Regards
    Sujay Babu

Re: Show only the possible values in the pivot chart filter

I think you're asking to do the exact same thing I was looking to do last week:
    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-char...ategories.html

Unfortunately I don't think there is a (straightforward) way to do what you're asking.

What I can recommed is adding "Slicers" - The first slicer will display "A" and "B" as options, and the second will list 1-7 as options. When you select "A" in the first slicer, the second slicer will highlight 1, 2, and 3 and move them to the top while 5,6, and 7 are faded (though still visible). This shows that they are irrelevant based upon your selection of "A".

You can choose how to order the choices on the slicers as well. For example: You choose to list the second slicer in an ascending order, 1-7. If you select "B" on the first slicer, the second will appear as follows:

    5
    6
    7
    1
    2
    3

I was initially against this idea just because of the amount of categories I have and the amount of options within each, but the slicers actually make the table much easier to use than trying to click the little down arrow and use those options.

    Good luck!
