Product Sales to Month Sales

Hello,

I want to transform product sales to a month sales chart. Dates are in format YMD. My goal is to create the chart with summed up sales for every month.

I never worked with pivot charts and I need to learn how to do it. Is it possible to create a column with months in format like August 2013, September 2013 etc. from date format like 2013-08-23, without changing entries?

... the number section of the home tab has a dropdown for formatting. from there go to more number formats. there's a date section. one of them should give you what you're looking for...

I made pivot chart, set desired format, and tried to group the fileds. Everything is OK exept one thing. Grouping aggregated all dates into months but the names of months are short like Aug, Sep. I cannot change them using the data format because it is text and I cannot get the date in digits.

a sample workbook would be helpful... i'm confused as to how you lost the numeric date when you went to Aug, Sep...

are you open to creating a new column? you could have a list in another sheet with the short date in column A and the long month in column b and then
