    3 variables in 2d graph

    Hi.
I want to create a 2d graph. Suppose we have 6 points. I have x and y coordinates of that points, so i can create graph simple(x in bottom axis and y in left vertical axis). But in my project, every point has velocity of water. I want to insert these velocities in right vertical axis. please see image

Add the velocity data as a second data series, then tell Excel to plot that series on the secondary axis. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...165.aspx?CTT=1

No. That is for comparison of 2 graph with two variables . I have 3 variable in one graph. Please see image. I want like this image.

Re: 3 variables in 2d graph

My apologies, I misunderstood your first request. It looks to me like you want a contour plot. In a contour plot, one of the variables is held constant (in the moody diagram, this is relative roughness), and the other two variables are plotted at that value. Repeat for different values of relative roughness. Your data only shows one x,y pair for each value of velocity, so I assume you have the means of generating other values for y and x at the given velocity values.

Usually the easiest way to create a contour plot is to build a table of values that looks something like this (RR is relative roughness, Re is Reynolds number, FF is friction factor):

Then create the plot from this table. If desired add suitable labels to each curve to identify which contour it represents.
