The attached file sheet 1 is soil moisture data. Columns D and E have data corrected for the length of the tensiometer as you can see from the other sheet D has 1.5 taken off all values and column E has 3 taken off all values. But the graph on sheet one, though each data point for the lines shows the right numbers the scale of the 2º axis still goes according tothe uncorrected data!
We do these graphs all the time I can't work out what's going on in this one.
the secondary axis scale has both Min (-7) and Max (0) value fixed.
Setting then to Auto should result in a scale -7 to +3
Andy, it doesn't matter how I set the scale, fixed or auto it still shows the wrong figures. Click on any point on the 30 cm tensiometer line and say if it reads 3.2, track over to the axis and it will read 6.2 - its not accepting that I took 3 off each reading in the column, even though I have tried it with formulas in and also cut and pasted with values only. I have shut excel down and re opened it and it doesn't change it! I have just got home now nad i will try on my other computer with a different version of excel! And for the 15 cm tensiometer line its doing that same only the difference is 1.5.
that's because the chart type for those series is Stacked line rather than cluster.
Cluster - I don't have a cluster option? I don't think I've ever done it as a cluster?
Well the actual text in the tooltip, as you hover over the subtypes is Line. You have selected the 2nd subtype Stacked.

the attached screen shot shows the subtype you should use.
OK so I've changed it to a type of scatter plot with markers and now removed the markers so I can read it and the axes are right! So would you care to explain why! :-) And many thanks BTW!
PS OK now I've done it your way and it is also right. Though I seem to have no end of trouble doing them from scratch with that graph type - which is why we use another type. Its been a long day - thank you!
