hello all,
very happy to have found the forum as Excel is not my area of specialty by any stretch of the imagination. hope my title is descriptive of my problem (apologies if it isn't).
here's my situation: i have a data set that includes the results of many seasons and i would like to create a line graph that indicates how each team has performed over the years (something that will ultimately look like a tracking of stock prices over the years). my data sets look like this (although with many many more seasons):
2001
1 a
2 b
3 c
4 d
5 e
6 f
7 g
2002
1 g
2 f
3 e
4 d
5 c
6 b
7 a
2003
1 g
2 a
3 b
4 d
5 f
6 c
7 e
I would like to graph the historic performance of teams a-g (each with a different color) where the Y axis shows possible ranking (first-7th) and X axis shows the seasons. with only 3 seasons i think i can manage but i have many many more to do and i'm wondering if there's a way excel can recognize a key word instead of me having to click in each box to identify data when creating chart (does that make sense?). i would greatly appreciate help with this, thank you
