Horizontal Axis Labels not showing

I am trying to show the 'seasons' (see attachment) as labels on my horizontal axis in this scatter plot in Excel 2010 with out success. It is only showing 'numbers' while, when the chart is selected, as in the picture, the seasons are shown selected. Any help is much appreciated!

xy scatters can only take numerical values for both x and y axes. Why not simply use a standard line graph?

Thanks for the reply! I was not aware of this. I did not like the sharp angles in line graphs but got around it by using the 'smoothed line' option in the 'line style'.
