Creating pivot table out of two ranges

I learned how to create a Multiple Consolidation Ranges pivot table, but I am having trouble getting it to do anything useful.

Say I have data from A1:B5000 and from F1:G5000. I want to create a pivot table that would be the same as pasting the 2nd range into C1:D5000, and creating a new range A1:D5000.

I'm not trying to superimpose the data on top of each other, I just want it side-by-side. Everything in each row is related and I have 4 separate columns of information, they just aren't in 4 consecutive columns. I tried creating a "dummy" sheet and using INDEX to import the data so they sit next to each other, but doing so for such a large index seemed to crash excel. Any ideas?

A possibility would be using the PowerPivot add-in from MS. It was free for XL2010 but not any more for 2013 if I'm right

I'm rather astonished that XL should have problems handling 5000 rows even with an INDEX/MATCH combination

    Hi Yoshi,

Pivot Tables work on "tables". Your "side by side" ranges don't fit the definition of a table. You should move your F1:G5000 data over to C1:D5000 so there would be no blank columns between your data. Then do a Pivot Table on A1:D5000.

See a definition of a "Table" at:

    http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/dat...database_5.htm

It is that you are trying to do a Pivot Table on something that isn't a table.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
