Pivot table field for day of week vs. Date return

I would like to show the day of the week for any date in a pivot table slicer.

col a1 is invoice date and is formatted dd-mmm-yy
col b1 is invoice month yy and is =text(a1,mmm yy)
col c1 is day of invoice date and is =text(a1,ddd)

Any slicer for these fields shows the full short date format, I would like a slicer that shows Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri.

    Can anyone help???

Can you attach a workbook, please? I'm confused by your data fields - it sounds like Column C contains a weekday, which you could apply to a slicer, so not sure why that's not working. An alternative would be a calculated field, which displays a weekday based on Invoice Date, then create a sliver for that calculated field. Either way - please attach a workbook.

I can't seem to get the paperclip for attachments to make an appearance.
I copied data from the original spreadsheet into D4:H22 of a new workbook
Col F is formatted for date as 13-Dec-12
Col G & H followed the =Text as in my first post and displays in the raw data as I want
I pivot D4:H22 and then select a slicer for Del Day and it appears as I want
It won't appear that way in the original spreadsheet, it shows in the slicer as 12/13/2012 and the blank cells as 12:00:00 AM????????

It's almost impossible for me to comment without seeing your workbook...

How do I get it posted without the icon to browse for it and attach it?

I don't see why this wouldn't work - as Olly said, we'd need to see your workbook to make sense of it.
