how do I regularize the spacing of x-axis values as opposed to data points on line chart?

I want the values on my x-axis to be regularly spaced, not the data points themselves. How do I do this?

For example, the 18 x values I have range from 0-100, but they are not evenly spaced. The x values are random. Some are bunched together, some are spaced apart (I'm talking values here, not their display on the chart). When I make a chart of this the x-axis puts even spacing between all the x values that I used, even though this is horribly misleading. As it is, the physical spacing between labels is constant, but the value interval that the space represents varies from label to label as you go from left to right. I just want the x axis to read (0,10,20....100) and then have the line correspond to the x-axis labels. I can create an x-axis that reads (0,10,20....100) but then the line is totally independent of the values that appear on the axis.

I have attached an image to show more clearly what my problem is. Note the constant spacing but varying intervals of the x-axis values.

I think you want a scatter chart, but are using a line chart. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...478.aspx?CTT=1

Ok, thanks, got it. I would have gone with the scatter chart, but the homework assignment asks us to plot a line and I didn't think of just making a connecting line in a scatter chart.
