I have a table with multiple data entries. Each along with each entry is a date. I've created a pivot table and chart to sort and view the data based on certain variables. All standard pivot stuff and everything works fine. However, I've noticed one thing that I would like to remove. When filtering the data by date (I have it set to filter by year in this case), I can choose to sort by the years that are included in my data, but Excel also provides two more filters: a "< earliest date" and a "> latest date". (For my current data, I have the options "<2/19/2014" and ">6/25/2015".) Why does Excel give me these options? Those ranges don't match any dates from the data. They also make the options for my slicers look ugly. Is there any way to remove the option to filter by these 'less than" and "greater than" dates?

Here's what my date filter and corresponding slicers look like.
