Help! Calculated fields in Pivot Table break when inserting columns into source data!

Whenever I insert a column into the source data of a Pivot Table and then refresh the Pivot Table, the calculated fields (columns) in the Pivot Table break and display #NAME. How can I avoid this?

I need to insert additional columns of source data in the existing data, so I can add those columns to the Pivot Table. Do I really need to (manually) rebuild calculated fields every time I add a data column to the source data? That just seems absurd...

Instead of inserting a column into the source data, just highlight the whole thing and drag it one column over?? you never know right?

Hm, I am not sure I understand. Highlight which whole thing exactly? Are you talking about row label columns? I can drag those, but I can't drag data columns. Or is it possible to somehow drag data columns in the Pivot Table to make room for a new column, which then inserts a column in the source data as well? So far I have been trying it the other way round, inserting a column in the source date with the hopes it would add the column in the Pivot Table when I refresh it, which it does, but it also keeps breaking the calculated fields...
