    Data Sort and Formulas

    Hello and good day.

    I have Excel 2010. I have a field that I want to data sort. I know how to do that, but the data that I want to sort is in a formula from another field.
    CF=($CP$10*CG7)

    When I sort (in this case CP7-CP31), the formula points to the same field in CP10 but the data from CP10 is now in CP22 so I get the wrong result in CF.
    I have been using $ to anchor the formula for row and column. I tried to remove the $ for both and only one or the other, but to no avail.

    I pretty good at Excel, but I am missing something that I am sure is pretty easy.

    Thanks all

    Re: Data Sort and Formulas

    You probably need a different strategy here.

    Suggest creating a helper column adjacent to CP which sorts with it and then use VLOOKUP or INDEX and MATCH to get back the value that you want.
