Extracting data from inside multiple brackets

    Hi all

I'm really hoping you guys will be able to help me with my problem.

I'm trying to create an online order form using google forms. In my response spreadsheet I have an cell containing:

    22" - Size 0 (£52.50),
    24" - Size 2 (£60.00)

I desperately need to be able to extract the amounts within the brackets across to the next cell and in an ideal world add the amounts together. There could also be more than two sets of brackets, depending on the order being placed.

Is there a formula that can achieve this? All the ones I have tried will only extract from one set of brackets or will do both but then also include the string between the brackets too.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated as this is starting to drive me mad!

    Many thanks

    Danielle

    To attach a Workbook
(please do not post pictures of worksheets)
    • Click Advanced (next to quick post),
    • Scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments",
    • Click that then select "add files" (top right corner).
    • Click "Select Files" find your file, click "open" click "upload"
    • Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
    • Click "Done" at bottom right to close the Attachment Manager.
    • Click "Submit Reply"

    Hi Danielle

There is loads of support available to you on these forums, however, as the first responder has pointed out, we need a bit more information

For example, where you say "There could also be more than two sets of brackets" - is this unlimited or fixed at three, or four ?

    Uniform Order Response Example.xlsx

    Hi

    Thanks for the quick responses.
Hope the workbook has been attached properly.

On the current order form the maximum number of brackets per cell could be 31, but as it is updated annually, this number may increase.

    Thanks again for your help.

I don't know how that form works. In some cells you have a single size/price, e.g. E2. In that case you can use:

to extract the price and convert it to an Excel number.

However, I don't understand how you can have multiple sizes/prices in a single cell, especially when the next cell (F2) inputs the quantity.

Actually, the sizes should be in separate rows and the prices and quantities in separate columns per size.

In H5 you have two sizes and prices, so adding, £52.50 + £60.00 = £112.50 which doesn't mean anything and it gets worse if the quantity (of which) is > 1.
