    Help, cannot divide data

    Hi,

Basically, I am trying to divide the entries corresponding to year 2002 by ten (10).

The problem is that if I copy the column and divide it by ten in another cells column, I then cannot copy and paste it back into the initial column.

I tried to sort the data by year 2002 and then divide by ten, but when I try to paste, some strange numbers appear.

Please help me on how to divide the entries in year 2002 by ten.

    Thank you!

I am not sure if this is what you want:
    1. I have divided by 10 for years 2002
    2. Value is stored in column D
    3. If you want to copy column D and paste it into column C, do this:
    A - Copy values in column D
    B - Paste values

    Hi,

You can also use a custom format to format the number in place which avoids the need for a helper column and a cut and paste job.

Format the number with the custom format

    #.00#,%

But here's the trick, and it's not easy to show in the above, but you need to insert a Ctrl-J character between the , & %, otherwise the % sign will show. i.e.
    #.00#,{Ctrl-J}%
    but excluding the {} brackets
